The results presented included the learning status of the 16 participating countries, their comparison with the TERCE study (2013), some findings on gaps and relevant variables associated with academic achievement, as well as an analysis of factors associated with the educational context.
The development of ERCE 2019 began in 2017. From that day until its results release, LLECE has worked together with several recognized institutions in the region to implement the different stages of the study. Our partners in this period have been the MIDE UC Measurement Center of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, the (now closed) National Institute for the Evaluation of Education (INEE) of Mexico and the Center for Advanced Research in Education (CIAE) of the University of Chile.
The study shows that Latin America and the Caribbean are facing a crisis in education and that progress in the achievement of fundamental learning remains a pending task in order to make the right to quality education effective.
